Mark your calendars for the Friends of the Library’s Oktoberfest on Friday,
October 18 th from 6-9pm at the Woodland Public Library, 250 First Street.  This
celebration will be held inside the library with a full dinner served in our beautiful,
historic rotunda.
Tickets include admission to happy hour from 6 to 7 pm. During this fun hour
guests can stroll through the library while enjoying beer, wine, and snacks. Our
silent auction items will be on display so come ready to bid on some fabulous
baskets. Join us for games of chance or skill in the stacks, and keep your eyes
open to complete our library scavenger hunt!
Both live and silent auctions offer a variety of prizes for all budgets. Popular items
with bidders in the past have included jewelry, wine packages, golf packages,
numerous items from local restaurants and businesses, beach getaways, and
casino packages. Last year, our annual fundraising evening brought in thousands
of dollars to continue the support of our library; our goal this year is to raise even
more.
Your Oktoberfest ticket includes a catered, sit-down dinner as well as all
entertainment. The menu includes a full dinner (vegetarian option available), beer
and wine, coffee, and delicious homemade desserts. FOL member price is $45 or
$80 per couple; non-members pay $50 or $90 per couple. Ticket information and
a payment link can be found on the Friends’ website, www.woodlandfol.org.
Alternatively, payments by check (payable to Woodland FOL) should be mailed as
soon as possible to FOL/Oktoberfest, P.O. Box 545, Woodland, CA 95776.
All proceeds benefit our library. Here are some of the things the FOL help make
happen: Summer at the Library activities and summer reading programs for all
ages; children’s story times in English and Spanish; teen programming and the
Teen Advisory Board; adult literacy, reading initiatives, and educational lectures;
and our town’s Little Free Libraries. We are pleased to bring local authors to
speak at our library throughout the year. We are also proud to have contributed
to the creation of our makerspace called Square One, which is open to the
community.
Come have some fun again this year while you bid on great prizes and help keep
our wonderful library such a vital part of Woodland.

The Friends of the Woodland Public Library is a volunteer non-profit community
organization dedicated to helping our library achieve its mission to inform and
enhance the quality of life and foster lifelong learning. Our members are
advocates for a strong library system in our community. We believe that the
oldest operating Carnegie Library in California deserves an engaged organization
that helps represent the community’s interests about library issues.
